      1. Death means the enduring disappearance of all signs of life at any point after a live birth (termination of vital functions without resuscitation). This definition does not include fetal death. Perinatal death is the death of a baby born alive that occurs within the first six days of post-natal life (168 hours). Neonatal death is the death of a baby born alive after the first seven days of life (over 168 hours but before 28 days of postpartum life). Postnatal deaths are the deaths of a baby born alive after 27 days of postpartum life (but before 1 year of postnatal life). Maternal death the death of a woman while pregnant or within 42 days of termination of pregnancy, irrespective of the duration and site of the pregnancy, from any cause related to or aggravated by the pregnancy or its management but not from accidental or incidental. Mortality expresses the deaths as a component of the population change that happens to every member of the population. The mortality coefficient per cause is estimated to be death per 100,000 inhabitants because for many causes of death the rate of occurrence is very small. Death ratio by a specific cause group is expressed as a percentage of deaths occurring in that group in relation to their total number. The infant mortality coefficient is the number of deaths of children age under 1 year in 1000 live births per given year. The maternal mortality coefficient is the number of women dying as a result of pregnancy in a given year for 100,000 live births of that year.
