Water Statistics in Kosovo, 2016-2017
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published Water Statistics in Kosovo for the years of 2016-2017.
This publication comes out every two years and aims to provide comprehensive statistical information on water resources in Kosovo and aims to contribute to the creation of sustainable information on the state of waters in Kosovo.
In 2016, about 89.59% of population of Kosovo was supplied with water through public systems managed by Regional Water Companies, while about 10.41% of the population did not have access to the services of water supply.
In 2016, the total amount of water supply for households, industrial activities and institutions was 62.07 million m³ of water.
Meanwhile, the supply of households with drinking water has changed from year to year, for example. in 2010 it was 41.88 million m³; in 2014 it was 46.72 million m³; while in 2016 it reached 52.33 million m³.
The water used for system of irrigation in agriculture has undergone significant changes from year to year. In 2010 it was 42 million m³, in 2014 it reached 53 million m³, and in 2017 it was 52.62 million m³.
From the data for accumulation of lakes, total accumulation volume is 565 million m³.
The data from the publication show that the largest amount of water used on daily and annual basis as the main source have accumulation of lakes and natural resources.
