Transport Statistics, Q4 2017

Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published Transport and Telecommunication Statistics for the fourth quarter (Q4 2017) with data on air, rail and telecommunications.

In 2017, 334 440 motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles are registered in Kosovo, or 4.64% more than in 2016.

In the territory of Kosovo there are 2 043.4 km of roads, of which: 5% motorway; national 31%; while 64% are regional roads.

In the territory of Kosovo, there are a total of 333 km of railway tracks for transport. In the Kosovo Railways there is a circulation of 1 diesel locomotive, which carries 10 wagons for passengers.

The number of passengers using the train as a travel vehicle during the fourth quarter of 2017 was 24,000, compared to the previous quarter (Q3 2017), an increase of 7.7%. Meanwhile, freight transport by train in this quarter was 55 thousand tons.

As for the number of flights, in the fourth quarter of 2017 there were 1 646 flights, an increase of 5%, compared with the same quarter last year (Q4 2016).

Meanwhile, the number of passengers using the airplane as a means of transport during this quarter was about 418 thousand, with an increase of 5.90% over the same quarter last year (Q4 2016).
