Transport and Telecommunications Statistics, Q1 2020
Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published "Transport and Telecommunications Statistics" in the first quarter of 2020 (Q1 2020), with data on air, rail and road transport and telecommunications.
In the territory of Kosovo there are a total of 333 km of railway tracks for transport.
In the first quarter (Q1) of 2020, the number of passengers who have used the train as a means of transport is about 21 thousand, where compared to Q1 2019, the number of passengers has decreased by 27.42%. This came as a result of the Government's decision (in March 2020) on the measures taken in the fight against COVID-19, where passenger transport has been suspended.
The transport of goods (freight) by train in Q1 2020 is about 101 thousand tons, where compared to Q1 2019 there is a decrease by 26%.
Also, the number of flights in Q1 2020 was 1 534, where compared to the same quarter last year (Q1 2019) there is a decrease by 14%. While, the number of passengers who have used the plane as a means of transport, during this quarter, was about 431 thousand, which compared to the same quarter last year (Q1 2019) has decreased by 9.42%.
Meanwhile, telecommunication data have been estimated for this period, as the reporting period has been postponed to economic operators, as a result of the measures taken by the Government. At the time of receipt of the reports by RAEPC, the data will be subject to revision.
