Transport and Telecommunication Statistics, Q3 2018

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published "Transport and Telecommunication Statistics" in Q3 2018 with data on air, rail and road transport, and telecommunication.

In the territory of Kosovo there are a total of 333 km of railway tracks for transport. There are 9 locomotives circulating in Kosovo's railways, of which seven are diesel engines and two motor trains. The locomotives carry ten wagons per passenger and 1 420 cargo or freight wagons.

In the third quarter of 2018, the number of passengers using the train as a travel means was 33 000, compared with the same quarter last year (Q3 2017), where the number of passengers has increased by 41.90%.

Freight transport by train in the third quarter of 2018 was 93 thousand tons, compared with the same period of the previous year (Q3 2017) there is a decrease by 35.60%.

Regarding the number of flights in the third quarter of 2018, there were 2 542 flights or 6.63% more than in the same quarter last year (Q3 2017).

The number of passengers using the aircraft as a travel means during this quarter was about 721 thousand, compared with the same quarter last year (Q3 2017) there is an increase by 11.81%.

Based on Eurostat's request, starting from the second quarter of this year (Q2 2018), the publication has undergone some changes in the telecommunications sector by including data from other operators in order to cover all services of telecommunications provided in our country.
