The initiative for the establishment of the Master's Program at the Faculty of Economics
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS), together with representatives of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Prishtina "Hasan Prishtina", with the support of the Project "Strengthening of the Statistical System of Kosovo" (EU-Sida), participated in a joint meeting at the Faculty of Economics in Tirana and INSTAT.
The purpose of this meeting was to establish the Master's Program for Statistics at the Faculty of Economics in Prishtina, in order to meet the needs of the market for statisticians to produce reliable, qualitative and comparable official statistics for decision makers.
The Kosovo delegation was received by the dean of the Faculty of Economics in Tirana, Prof. Dr. Dhori Kule, as well as Mrs. Elsa Dhuli, director general of INSTAT. Meanwhile, the Kosovo delegation was led by the dean of the Faculty of Economics in Prishtina, Prof. Dr. Driton Balaj.
Prof. Dr. Driton Balaj, after summarizing the situation at the Faculty of Economics in Prishtina, presented the initiative for the establishment of the Master's Program for Statistics in cooperation with KAS to start the accreditation of this program.
It was recommended to work on the curriculum of the program in order to be in line with the needs of the market, as well as under the Eurostat umbrella, by applying to EMOS. Admission to EMOS would give the opportunity for our country's students to apply for Master's studies in the countries that are part of EMOS. The example of Germany and the Czech Republic for Master's programs in EMOS can be adapted to Kosovo.
