The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released the Statistical Repertory on Economic Enterprises in Kosovo for the first quarter of 2023 (Q1 2023).

In Q1 2023, a total of 3 086 enterprises were registered, where compared to the previous quarter (Q4 2022), there is an increase by 17.07% of registered enterprises. While compared to the same quarter of the previous year (Q1 2022) there is an increase by 9.0% of registered enterprises.

The most preferred economic activities during this quarter were: Wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, motorcycles with 762 registered enterprises (24.7%); Manufacturing with 353 registered enterprises (11.4%); Construction with 325 registered enterprises (10.5%); Professional, scientific and technical activities with 309 registered enterprises (10.0%); Accommodation and food service activities with 271 registered enterprises (8.8%) etc.

Meanwhile, according to the category of employees in the enterprises registered in this quarter, there were: in the category with 1 to 4 employees there are a total of 2 988 registered enterprises (96.8%); in the category with 5 to 9 employees there are 69 registered enterprises (2.2%); in the category with 10 to 19 employees there are 19 registered enterprises (0.6%); with 20 to 249 employees there are 9 registered enterprises (0.3%); while in the category with 250 and more employees there is only 1 registered enterprise.

As for the geographical extent of registered enterprises at the level of municipalities, the municipality of Prishtina leads with 862 registered enterprises (27.9%); Ferizaj with 267 registered enterprises (8.6%); Prizren with 261 registered enterprises (8.4%); Gjilani with 172 registered enterprises (5.6%); Peja with 160 registered enterprises (5.2%); and Fushë Kosova with 124 registered enterprises (4.0%). Whereas, other municipalities have a smaller number of enterprises registered in this quarter.
