The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released the Statistical Repertoire of Economic Enterprises in Kosovo in the first quarter (Q1) 2022.

In the first quarter (Q1) of 2022, a total of 2 831 enterprises were registered. Compared to the previous quarter (Q4 2021) there is an increase by 17.2% of registered enterprises. Whereas, compared to the same quarter of the previous year (Q1 2021) there is a decrease by (-3.7%) of registered enterprises.

The most preferred economic activities during this quarter were: Wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, motorcycles with 718 registered enterprises (25.4%); Manufacturing with 326 registered enterprises (11.5%); Construction with 312 registered enterprises (11%); Accommodation and food service activities with 279 registered enterprises (9.9%); Professional, scientific and technical activities with 267 registered enterprises (9.4%), etc.

In the category with 1 to 4 employees are a total of 2 711 enterprises registered in this quarter (95.7%); with 5 to 9 employees are 83 registered enterprises (2.9%); with 10 to 19 employees are 22 registered enterprises (0.7%); with 20 to 249 employees are 14 registered enterprises (0.5%); while in the category with 250 and more employees there is only one (1) registered enterprise.

Regarding the geographical distribution of registered enterprises at the municipal level, as in every quarter, the municipality of Prishtina dominates with 859 registered enterprises (30.3%); Prizren with 261 registered enterprises (9.2%); Ferizaj with 239 registered enterprises (8.4%); Gjilan with 170 registered enterprises (6%); Peja with 147 registered enterprises (5.2%); and Fushë Kosova with 135 registered enterprises (4.8%). While other municipalities have a smaller number of enterprises registered in this quarter.
