Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published "Social Welfare Statistics for 2016”.

Publication of Social Welfare Statistics 2016 provides data on the social assistance scheme, the basic age pension scheme, contributory pension age, pension for persons with special needs, scheme for providing material support to families with children with permanent special needs, the pension scheme for the families of martyrs, war invalids and war veterans, the Trepça pension scheme, pension scheme for the Kosovo Protection Corps, Kosovo Security Force, the compensation scheme for the blind, data on the number of abandoned children, etc.

According to the results of this publication, from the social assistance scheme in 2016 benefited 26 302 families with a total of 107 575 members. Thus, the number of beneficiaries of basic pension age was 120 017; the number of beneficiaries of age pension contributions was 41 315; and the number of beneficiaries of the pension scheme for persons with special needs was 19 883. The number of families who have benefited from the scheme for material support to families who have children with special needs was 2 737.

The number of beneficiaries of the pension scheme for the families of martyrs and war invalids was 12 680; the number of beneficiaries of the pension scheme for war veterans was 28 207; the number of beneficiaries of Trepça pensions was 3 412; the number of beneficiaries of the pension scheme of the Kosovo Protection Corps was 932; from the pension scheme for the Kosovo Security Forces benefited a total of 218 retirees; from the scheme for blind persons benefited a total of 3 627 persons; while the number of abandoned children in 2016 was 41.
