Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Kosovo and UNOPS for the Population Census 2021
In the office of Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Mr. Enver Hoxhaj, a Memorandum of Understanding is signed between the Government of Kosovo and the United Nations Office for Project Services, UNOPS, regarding the Population and Housing Census in Kosovo in 2021.
The project of the Kosovo Population and Housing Census 2021 is one of the most capital projects carried out by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS).
On the occasion of signing the Memorandum of Understanding, Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Hoxhaj, said that "this process is of capital importance, therefore a commitment of all shall be carried out with high professionalism and international standards, shall be credible both nationally and as well as internationally".
"The Fund will be managed as a program - namely Multi Partner Fund and in which together with the Government of Kosovo will be joined by other potential international partners and donors, such as: EU Office, Swiss Development Cooperation, the Government of Germany, the Government of Sweden - SIDA, the Government of Norway, Luxemburg, Denmark, as well as the representations of other governments and other donors in Kosovo", said Mr. Hoxhaj.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding signed today, the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, as the carrier of the project, will implement the project in close cooperation with UNOPS which will manage the established fund in order to cover the costs of project activities.
The project will be governed by the Steering Committee, whose members will be all participants in the fund. The Government of Kosovo will finance 40% of the project, while international partners and donors will fund 60% of the project.
Further, Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Hoxhaj, said that "My office, in close cooperation with KAS and UNOPS, will make joint efforts to provide the necessary tools for the successful and unobstructed implementation of this project".
