The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) for the first time has published the results of the Short Term Industry Statistics by presenting the Industrial Volume Index for the first quarter of 2018 (Q1 2018) (2017 = 100).

With the data it provides this survey aims to present the progress in the sector of: Industry (B – Mining and Quarrying, C – Manufacturing, D – Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, and E - Water supply, sewerage waste management and remediation activities) in quarterly periods through which to understand the development of the industry cycle.

In the first quarter of 2018  (Q1 2018), compared with the fourth quarter of 2017 (Q4 2017), there was an increase in the sector of Water supply, sewerage waste management and remediation activities (E) by 25.94%; and in the sector of Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (D) with 12.26%.

Whereas, there has been a decrease in: Mining industry (B) (-47.37%); Manufacturing industry (C) by (-35.85%).

Meanwhile, compared the Q1 2018 with the same quarter of the previous year (Q1 2017), there was an increase in: Water supply, sewerage waste management and remediation activities (E) by 50.44%; and Manufacturing industry (C) by 4.83%.

Whereas, there has been a drop in: Mining industry (B) with (-12.15%) and Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (D) by (-1.73%).
