Results of the Structural Business Statistics, 2018

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the results of the Structural Business Survey in the reference year 2018. This publication, with the data it provides, aims to present some of the economic indicators according to the structure of economic activity.

According to the results of this publication, according to economic sectors, the largest number of enterprises belongs to: trade with 16 143 enterprises, or expressed in percentage 45.4%; business services and other services with 5 250 companies, or 14.8%; processing industry (manufacturing) with 4 930 enterprises, or 13.9%; accommodation and food service activities with 3 683 enterprises, or 10.4%; construction companies with 2 849, or 8.0%; transport and storage 1 351 enterprises, or 3.8%; information and communication with 982 enterprises, or 2.8%; mining and quarrying with 161 companies, or 0.5%; water supply, sanitation, waste management and land revitalization activities with 126 enterprises, or 0.4%; as well as the supply of electricity, gas and air conditioning with 65 enterprises, or 0.2%.

In terms of employment for the economic sectors that were part of the research, the total number of employees reaches 177 852, out of which the trade sector comprises about 60 349 employees, or expressed in percentage 33.9%; processing industry (manufacturing) 27 125 employees, or 15.3%; business services 22 004 employees, or 12.4%; construction with 20 533 employees, or 11.5%; accommodation and food service activities with 13 955 employees, or 7.8%; information and communication with 10 603 employees, or 6.0%; as well, other sectors have less than 5% employees.

Another noteworthy characteristic is the turnover realized by enterprises, dominated by trade with a share of 54.6%, construction by 11.6%, manufacturing by 11.5%, supply of electricity, steam and gas, and air conditioning with 6.4%, other services activities with 5.1%, while other sectors of economic activity resulted in a lower percentage of turnover.

As for the indicator of average monthly gross salary, it amounts to around 378 euros in the activities included in the survey.
