Results of the Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (SILC), 2020

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released the Results of the Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (known as EU-SILC) in Kosovo for the year of 2020.

This publication provides statistical data on the living conditions of households in Kosovo and on other similar issues related to living standards.

According to the results of this publication, it turns out that the average number of rooms for a household in Kosovo was 4.17 rooms, where 4.23 was the average number of rooms in urban areas, while 4.07 was the average number of rooms in rural areas. One household member in Kosovo had 0.93 rooms available, i.e. less than 1 room per person. In urban areas it was 0.94 rooms, while in rural areas it was 0.92 rooms. It results that 93.9% of households owned, by legal act, houses / flats; 2.7% of households owned, by law, but were paying loans; 0.9% of households were tenants or renters, paying rent at the market rate; for 0.2% of households accommodation is rented at a lower market price; while for 2.2% of households accommodation is provided free of charge.

Housing expenditures for 40.7% ​​of households are a heavy burden; for 37.8% of households these expenses represent a light burden; while for 21.5% of households they do not represent a financial burden.

Expenditures for a week away from home is affordable for 42.7% of households in Kosovo, while for 57.3% of households such expenditures were unaffordable.

Meanwhile, a sudden expenditure of 100 Euros was affordable for 43.0% of households in Kosovo, while for 57.0% of households this expenditure was unaffordable to be paid from own sources.
