Producer Price Index, Q2 2019
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the Producer Price Index (PPI) in the second quarter of 2019 (Q2 2019).
The total producer price index in Kosovo increased by 0.2% between Q1 2019 and Q2 2019. The highest increase by the branch of economic activity is observed to: metal mining (10.8%); manufacture of non-metallic mineral products (3.0%); manufacture of metal (1.2%); rubber and plastic products (1.1%); processing of food products (0.7%); manufacture of machinery and equipment (0.2%); and manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (0.1%).
Increase was counteracted by the decrease of prices of: chemical products (-2.1%); manufacture of wood and articles thereof and cork, other than furniture: manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials (-1.9%); Electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply (-1.7%); manufacture of electrical equipment (-1.5%); manufacture of furniture (-0.7%); collection, treatment and water supply (-0.3%); manufacture of paper and articles thereof (-0.2%); and production of beverages (-0.1%).
Meanwhile, compared the Q2 2019 with the same period of the previous year (Q2 2018), production prices increased to an average of 1.1%. The largest increase by the branch of economic activity is observed in: manufacture of non-metallic mineral products (10.5%); processing of food products (5.6%); beverage production (4.3%); manufacture of furniture (3.5%); manufacture of machinery and equipment (2.7%); rubber and plastic products (0.9%); and manufacture of paper and articles thereof (0.8%).
The increase was counteracted by the decrease of prices in: metal extraction (-6.8%); metal mining (-5.8%); manufacture of electrical equipment (-5.8%); chemical products (-5.3%); fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (-2.6%); manufacture of wood and articles thereof and cork, other than furniture: manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials (-2.1%); manufacture of leather and articles thereof (-1.2%); collection, treatment and water supply (-1.2%); other mining and quarries (-0.8%); electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply (-0.7%); and manufacturing of motor vehicles, trailers and semitrailers (-0.1%).
