Producer Price Index, Q1 2021

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the Producer Price Index (PPI) in the first quarter of 2021 (Q1 2021).

Total producer price index in Kosovo increased by 1.5% in Q1 2021, compared to Q4 2020. Larger increases by branches of economic activities are observed in: metal ore extraction (23.3%); manufacture of metal (5.8%); electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (2.9%); manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (2.4%); manufacture of electrical equipment (1.9%); manufacture of rubber and articles thereof (1.2%); manufacture of paper and articles thereof (0.6%); manufacture of non-metallic mineral products (0.5%); and manufacture of machinery and equipment p.k.t (0.4%).

The increase was counteracted by the decrease in prices of: manufacture of furniture (-4.6%); manufacture of chemical products (-2.3%); manufacture of leather and articles thereof (-0.5%); processing of food products (-0.3%); water collection, treatment and supply (-0.1%); and other ores and quarries (-0.1%).

Producer prices in Kosovo increased by an average of 2.0%, between Q1 2021 and Q1 2020. Larger increases by branches of economic activities are observed in: metal ore extraction (15.7%); manufacture of motor vehicles (transport), trailers and semi-trailers (6.5%); electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (5.5%); manufacture of metal (3.7%); manufacture of electrical equipment (3.4%);  manufacture of wood and articles thereof and cork, other than furniture: manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials  (2.5%); manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (2.0%); manufacture of rubber and articles thereof (1.1%); manufacture of machinery and equipment p.k.t (1.0%); manufacture of non-metallic mineral products (1.0%); and manufacture of paper and articles thereof (0.5%).

The increase was counteracted by the decrease in prices of: manufacture of furniture (-5.1%); manufacture of chemical products (-2.6%); manufacture of leather and leather products (-2.3%); processing of food products (-1.0%); beverage production (-0.4%); other ores and quarries (-0.2%); and water collection, treatment and supply (-0.1%).
