Pilot Census 15 September – 14 October, 2020

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has started field work for the Pilot Census, from September 15 to October 14, 2020.

The issue of Population and Housing Census in Kosovo 2021, is considered a high priority in the state agenda of Kosovo. The general population census is preceded by the implementation of the Pilot Census, in order to test the entire organizational and implementation process.

In order to test many activities and instruments, based on previous practices, as well as international recommendations, KAS has planned to conduct a Pilot Census from September 15 to October 14, 2020 in 13 municipalities (Prishtina, Fushë Kosovë, Obiliq, Gracanica, Mitrovica, Ferizaj, Gjilan, Ranillug, Prizren, Dragash, Mamusha, Peja, and Gjakova).

KAS has made the necessary preparations to start the implementation of the Pilot Census in the field. Among others, questionnaires, methodology, manuals, as well as the method of field data collection (Medota CAPI – Computer-Assisted Personal Interview) were prepared.

During this period, the data collection in the field is taking place, KAS has engaged about 60 enumerators, 12 supervisors, and 19 monitors, who should be welcomed by households.

As in any activity, KAS has implemented the recommendations of the competent institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, regarding the application of protection measures against the situation created by the Pandemic COVID-19.
