The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the “Output Price Index and Prices in Agriculture” in the fourth quarter of 2019 (Q4 2019) (2015 = 100).

KAS has changed the base year of the index from 2010=100 to 2015=100 according to the methodology of Eurostat.

This publication is based on the collection of prices of local agricultural outputs in Kosovo. Data collection is done in markets, farms and other places where prices of agricultural outputs can be collected.

The outputs that form the basis of the price index of agricultural outputs are divided into two main groups: Crop and Animal outputs. In the frame of crop outputs, prices are collected for the following groups: cereal, fodder crops, vegetables, potatoes and fruits. In animal outputs, prices are collected for animal and animal outputs. Within animal, prices are collected for four categories of animals: cattle, sheep, pigs and chickens. These prices are based on the live weight of the animals. In the frame of animal outputs prices are collected for: milk, eggs and honey. All prices are calculated in Euro and units of measurement are in: kg, liter and pieces.

In the fourth quarter of 2019, the price index of animal outputs increased by (2.76%) compared to the same period in 2018. However, the price index of crop outputs decreased by (- 5.60%).

The total Agriculture Output Index decreased by (-1.16%) compared to the same period in 2018.
