The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the "Output Price Index and Prices in Agriculture" in the fourth quarter of 2018 (Q4 2018) (2015 = 100).

KAS has changed the base year of the index from 2010=100 in 2015=100 in accordance with the methodology of Eurostat.

This publication is based on the collection of prices of local agricultural outputs in Kosovo. Data collection is done in markets, farms and other places where agricultural output prices can be collected.

The outputs that make up the base for the agricultural output price index are divided into two main groups: Crop and Animal outputs. In the frame of crop outputs, prices have been collected for these groups: cereal, forage plants, vegetables, potatoes and fruit. In animal output, prices are collected for animals and animal output. Within animals, prices are collected for four categories of animals: cattle, sheep, pigs and chickens. These prices are based on live weight of animals. Within animal output, prices are collected for: milk, eggs and honey. All prices are calculated in Euro and the units are in: kg, liter and pieces.

In the fourth quarter of 2018, the index of prices for animal output has increased by 1.94% compared to the same period of 2017. The price index for crop output has increased by 11.44%.

Meanwhile, the total Agriculture Output Index has increased by (5.92%), compared to the same period of 2017.
