The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the "Output Price Index and Prices in Agriculture" in the first quarter of 2020 (Q1 2020) (2015 = 100).

KAS has changed the base year of the index from 2010 = 100 in 2015 = 100 according to the methodology of Eurostat.

This publication is based on the collection of prices of local agricultural outputs in Kosovo. Data collection has been done in markets, farms and other places where the prices of agricultural outputs can be collected.

The outputs that form the basis for the price index of agricultural outputs are divided into two main groups: Crop and Animal outputs. In the frame of crop outputs, prices are collected for these groups: cereals, fodder plants, vegetables, potatoes and fruits. In animal outputs, prices are collected for animal and animal outputs. In animal farming, prices are collected for four categories of animals: cattle, sheep, pigs and chickens. These prices are based on the live weight of the animals. As part of livestock outputs, prices have been collected for: milk, eggs and honey. All prices are calculated in Euros and the units of measurement are in: kg, liter and piece.

In the first quarter of 2020, the price index of animal outputs increased by 2.59%, compared to the same period of 2019. While the price index of crop outputs decreased by (- 7.76%).

The total Agriculture Output Index increased by 0.13% compared to the same period of 2019.
