Output Price Index and Prices in Agriculture, 2015-2018
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the "Output Price Index and Prices in Agriculture" for the years 2015-2018 (2015 = 100)
In accordance with the Eurostat methodology, KAS has changed the base year of the index from 2010 = 100 to 2015 = 100.
To make comparisons and to observe changes, here are presented data for the years 2015-2018 and for the base year 2015 (2015 = 100). This publication is based on the collection of prices of local agricultural outputs in Kosovo. Data collection is done on the markets, farms, and other places where agricultural output prices can be collected.
The output that creates the basis for the agricultural output price index are divided into two main groups: Crop and Animal output. In the frame of crop output, prices have been collected for these groups: cereal, forage plants, vegetables, potatoes and fruit.
In animal output, prices are collected for animals and animal output. Within animal, prices are collected for four categories of animals: cattle, sheep, pigs and chickens. These prices are based on live weight of animals. In the frame of animal output, prices are collected for: milk, eggs and honey. All prices are calculated in Euro, and the units are in: kg, liter and pieces.
In 2018, the annual crop price index has increased by 6.8% compared to 2017. The prices of animal output increased by 0.6% in 2018 compared to 2017. The total price index of agricultural output has increased by 3.3% for this period.
In 2018, the annual crop price index has increased by 7.9% compared to 2015. Meanwhile, the animal output price index increased by 2.4% in 2017 compared to 2015. The total annual index of agricultural output has increased by 4.7% in 2018 compared with 2015.
