Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published "Names and surnames in Kosovo".

The data in this publication are presented based on the data collection from the Kosovo Population Census conducted in 2011. This is the first time that KAS publishes this kind of report.

These data show that in Kosovo in 2011, the number of different names is 68 122 names, while the number of different surnames in Kosovo is 26 557 in total.

Regarding the distribution of names in Kosovo, the longest name was Ismailqemail with a total of 13 letters and Mirandolinda with a total of 12 letters, while the shortest name was with just two letters: Al or Ad.

Whereas, if we look at the names according to the first letter, according to the alphabet, most names begin with letter A, while at least with the letter C. Total of 8 026 names start with letter A, while a total of 407 names start with the letter C.

The most common name (frequent) for females in Kosovo was Fatime with a total of 8 626 people, while the most common name for males was Bajram.

As far as surnames are concerned, Krasniqi is the most common surname in Kosovo with more than 58 199 persons bearing this surname.
