Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published preliminary data on a monthly basis for Births, Deaths, Marriages and Divorces in March 2021. These data are published for the first time this year, and based on administrative data sources.

According to the legal provisions on managing of basic registers books for Births, Deaths and Marriages, and Divorces, the cases are mandatory to be registered in the above-mentioned registers, in the place where the event took place, regardless of the fact that the persons related to the event have permanent residence in that place or anywhere else

In March 2021, of total 3205 births were registered (inside and outside Kosovo), where compared to February 2021, there is an increase in the number of births by 19.9%. Of these births registered in March 2021, 1699 births were male and 1506 births were female.

While a total of 1822 of deaths have been registered (inside and outside Kosovo), where compared to March and February 2021, there is an increase by 20.7%. Of the registered deaths 1025 cases are male and 797 cases are female.

In March 2021, a total of 1679 marriages were registered (inside and outside Kosovo), where compared to February 2021, there is an increase in the number of married couples by (5.1%).

Comparing the number of divorces in March 2021 with February 2021, there was the same number of divorces. A total of 123 cases of divorced couples were registered

KAS will continue to collect data through special statistical questionnaires, for Births DEM-1, Deaths DEM-2, Marriages DEM-3 and Divorces SHK-1, during this calendar year, as before. Data collection continues on a monthly basis and will serve to create the database as well as compare it with administrative data.
