The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published preliminary data on a monthly basis for Births, Deaths, Marriages and Divorces in June 2021. These data are published for the first time this year based on administrative data sources.

According to the legal provisions on managing of basic registers books for Births, Deaths and Marriages, and Divorces, the cases are mandatory to be registered in the above-mentioned registers, in the place where the event took place, regardless of the fact that the persons related to the event have permanent residence in that place or anywhere else.

In June 2021, a total of 3849 births were registered (inside and outside Kosovo), where compared to May 2021 we have an increase in the number of births by (21%). Of these births recorded in June, 2050 births are male and 1799 births are female gender.

While a total of 1235 of deaths have been registered (inside and outside Kosovo), where compared to May 2021 we have a decrease in the number of deaths by (11.1%). Of the registered deaths, 715 cases are male and 520 cases are female.

In June 2021, a total of 1537 marriages were registered (inside and outside Kosovo), where compared to May 2021 there is an increase in the number of married couples by (5.9%).

While in terms of divorces in Kosovo for the month of June 2021 are 149 cases, compared to May we have an increase in the number of divorced couples by (8.8%).

KAS will continue to collect data through special statistical questionnaires, for Births DEM-1, Deaths DEM-2 Marriages DEM-3 and Divorces SHK-1, during this calendar year, as before. Data collection continues on a monthly basis and will serve to create the database as well as compare it with administrative data.
