The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released preliminary data¹ on a monthly basis for Births, Deaths, Marriages and Divorces in February 2022. These data are published based on administrative data.

According to the legal provisions on managing of basic registers books for Births, Deaths, Marriages and Divorces, cases are mandatory to be registered in the above-mentioned registers, in the place where the event took place, regardless of the fact that the persons related to the event have permanent residence in that place or anywhere else.

In the month of February 2022, a total of 1 890 births were registered (inside and outside Kosovo). Of these births recorded in February 2022, 991 of births cases were male and 899 were female.

Whereas, a total of 1 089 deaths were registered (inside and outside Kosovo). Of the recorded deaths, 606 cases are male and 483 cases are female.

In the month of February 2022, a total of 1 966 marriages were registered (inside and outside Kosovo).

Meanwhile, 122 cases of divorced couples were registered in this month.

KAS will continue to collect data through special statistical questionnaires: for Births DEM-1, Deaths DEM-2, Marriages DEM-3, and Divorces SHK-1, during this calendar year, as before. Data collection continues on a monthly basis and will serve to create the database as well as compare it with administrative data.
