For the first time, Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the level of average wage for the Public Sector (Administration), the Private Sector and the Public-Private Sector in Kosovo.

The data presented for the gross and net average wage according to sectors, in this report, are for the period 2012-2016, which will help decision-makers in orienting their policies and planning in more effective ways to retain and motivate employees.

In 2012, the average gross salary in Kosovo was 431 euros, while in 2016 it was 519 euro, an increase of 88 euros or 20.42%. While the net salary of 384 euros in 2012 grew to 457 euros, with 74 euros more, or 19.17%.

The average gross wage in the public sector in 2012 was 407 euros, while in 2016 it was 525 euros, rising to 118 euros, or 28.95%. While the net salary of 353 euros in 2011, rose to 449 euros, a rise of 96 euros, or 27.09%.

The private sector, in 2012, had a gross average salary of 367 euros, while in 2016 it had 371 euros, which grew by only 4 euros, or 1.09%. While the net salary of 333 euros in 2011, rose to 337 euros, with a rise of just 4 euros, or 1.20%.

The average gross wage in the public enterprises sector in 2012 was 518 euros, while in 2016 it was 660 euros, an increase of 142 euros, or 27.41%. While, the net salary of 465 euros, as it was in 2011, rose to 586 euros, a rise of 121 euro, or 26.02%.

The highest wage level in Kosovo was in the sector of public enterprises, while with lower wages was the private sector.

To estimate the level of Kosovo's average wage, the wages of nine (9) countries in the region: Albania, Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova were taken as a sample.

In gross wage, out of nine (9) countries, taken as a sample, according to the wage level, Kosovo is positioned in the middle. While, for net wage, Kosovo ranks the third, behind Montenegro and Romania.
