Labour Force Survey, Q4 2020
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the Results of the Labour Force Survey (LFS) in the fourth quarter of 2020 (Q4 2020).
According to the results, two thirds of the population in Kosovo are working age population. The working age population includes the age 15-64 year old. Within the working age population, the rate in the participation in the labour force is 41.3%.
Employment rate in the Labour Force Survey in the fourth quarter of 2020 is 30.2%.
The highest employment is for males at 44.8%, while employment for females is at 15.8%.
Females are employed mainly in the sectors of education, trade and health care, with 51.5%, while males are mainly employed in the sectors of construction, trade and manufacturing with 43.8%.
Economic sectors that lead with employment continue to be: trade with 15.3%; manufacturing by 13.0%; construction by 11.1%; and education by 9.9%. While other sectors participate with a lower percentage in employment.
Regarding the employees with contract, it turns out that 44.6% of employees have a permanent contract in their main job, while 55.4% have a temporary contract.
According to LFS results, in Q4 2020 the unemployment rate is 27.0%.
Unemployment is most pronounced among females at 33.5%, compared to males at 24.3%. The most pronounced unemployment rate is in the age group 15-24 at 49.9%.
According to LFS results, in Q4 2020, inactive workforce is quite high at 58.7%, with a particular focus on females at 76.2%, compared to males at 40.9%.
For the implementation of LFS in Q4 2020, the methodology and standards applid by KAS are harmonized with the recommendations of Eurostat.
