Labour Force Survey, Q1 2022
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released the results of the Labour Force Survey (LFS) for the first quarter of 2022 (Q1 2022).
According to the results of the survey, two thirds of the population in Kosovo are of working age. The working age population includes the age 15-64 year-old. Within the working age population, the rate of participation in labour force is 38.6%.
The employment rate in the Labor Force Survey (LFS) for the first quarter (Q1) 2022 is 32.2%.
The highest employment was among males with 46.6%, while employment among females was 17.9%.
Females are mainly employed in the education, trade and health care sectors, with 46.4% of them, while males are mainly employed in the trade, construction and manufacturing sectors with 36.0%.
Economic sectors that lead with employment continue to be: trade with 15.5%; education with 9.5%; other services activities with 9.1%; manufacturing by 8.7%, and construction with 7.8%. While, other sectors participate with a smaller percentage in employment.
As for those employed with contracts, it appears that 47.1% of employed persons have a permanent contract in their main job, while 52.9% have a temporary contract.
According to the results of the LFS, in Q1 2022 the unemployment rate is 16.6%.
The most pronounced unemployment was among females with 18.9%, compared to males, 1563%. The highest unemployment rate is among the 15-24 age group with 31.4%.
According to the results of the LFS, in Q1 2022 the inactive workforce is quite high at 61.4%, with a special focus on females with 77.9%, compared to males with 44.8%.
For the implementation of LFS in Q1 2022, the methodology and standards applied by KAS are harmonized with recommendations of Eurostat.
