International Trade Statistics, September 2021
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published data on the flow of export and import of goods in September 2021.
Data from the Kosovo International Trade in goods indicate a higher trade deficit by 43.1% in September 2021, compared to the same period of 2020, respectively in the amount of 351.3 million Euros, compared to the deficit of 245.5 million Euros in 2020. Exports cover imports by 16.5%.
Exports of goods in September 2021 were worth 69.3 million Euros, while imports 420.6 million Euros, which is an increase by 66.2% for exports and 46.4% for imports, compared to the same period of 2020.
According to the data of the main groups for export: 29.4% of exports are base metals and articles thereof; 24.4% comprise various manufactured articles; 9.8% are plastics, rubber and articles thereof; 7.9% are plant products; 7.2% are prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco; 5.9% are mineral products; 3.3% are machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment, etc.
Whereas, according to the data of the main groups for import: 16.3% are the means of transport; 13.1% are mineral products; 12.4% are base metals and articles thereof; 10.5% are prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco; 10.2% are machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment; 6.8% are products of the chemical industry; 6.8% are plastics, rubber and articles thereof, etc.
Kosovo's exports to EU countries (27) amounted to 19.3 million Euros, or about 28.0% of total exports, with an increase by 40.4%. The main partners for the export of goods to the EU are: Germany (8.6%), Italy (5.8%), the Netherlands (2.4%), etc.
Kosovo's imports from EU countries (27) were around 158.0 million Euros, or 37.6% of total imports, with an increase by 34.7%. The main import partners were Germany (11.4%), Greece (4.2%), Slovenia (4.0%), Italy (3.9%), etc.
In September 2021, Kosovo's exports to CEFTA countries amounted to 23.4 million Euros, or 33.8% of total exports, with an increase by 26.1%. The main export partners from CEFTA countries were: Albania (14.2%), North Macedonia (10.8%), Serbia (4.8%), and Montenegro (3.0%).
Imports from CEFTA countries in September 2021 amounted to 78.8 million Euros, or 18.7% of total imports, with an increase by 26.1%. The countries with the highest share of imports were: Albania (6.2%), Serbia (6.0%), and North Macedonia (5.0%).
Kosovo's exports to other countries of the world amounted to 26.5 million Euros, or 38.2%. The most important partners for export are: USA (19.2%), and Switzerland (6.6%).
Kosovo's imports with other countries of the world amounted to 183.8 million Euros, or 43.7%. The countries with the highest share of imports in this group were: Turkey (11.0%) and the USA (10.9%).
