International Trade Statistics, May 2021
Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released data on the flow of export and import for May 2021.
Data on the Kosovo International Trade of goods indicate a higher trade deficit by (53.9%) in May 2021, compared to the same period of 2020, respectively in the amount of 308.2 million euros compared to the deficit 200.3 million euros in 2020. Exports cover imports by (15.8%).
Exports of goods in May 2021 amounted to 57.8 million euros, while imports 366.0 million euros, an increase by (49.2%) for exports and (53.1%) for imports compared to the same period of 2020.
According to the data of the main groups for export: (34.8%) of the exports are basic metals and articles thereof, (15.7%) various manufactured articles, (11.0%) plastics, rubber and articles thereof, (7.6%) prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco, (5.6%) mineral products (5.2%) machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment, etc.
While according to the data of the main groups for import are: (13.6%) basic metals and articles thereof, (12.8%) machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment, (12.2%) mineral products, (11.3%) prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco, (9.1%) means of transport, (8.3%) products of the chemical industry, (7.2%) plastics, rubber and articles thereof, etc.
Kosovo's exports to EU-27 countries amounted to 21.5 million euros, or about (37.2%) of total exports, with an increase of (56.7%). The main partners for the export of goods to the EU are: Italy (10.1%), Germany (8.3%), Austria (5.0%), the Netherlands (3.6%), etc.
Kosovo's imports from EU-27 countries were about 164.9 million euros, or (45.1%) of total imports, with an increase of (62.1%). The main import partners were Germany (14.0%), Italy (5.3%), Greece (5.0%), Slovenia (3.1%), etc.
In May 2021, Kosovo's exports to CEFTA countries amounted to 22.3 million euros, or (38.6%) of total exports, with an increase of (21.9%). The main export partners from CEFTA countries are: Albania (16.3%), Macedonia (10.7%), Serbia (6.0%), Montenegro (3.9%).
Imports from CEFTA countries in May 2021 amounted to 77.0 million euros, or (21.0%) of total imports, with an increase of (46.1%). The countries with the highest share of imports were: Albania (7.4%), Serbia (6.9%), and Macedonia (4.7%).
Kosovo's exports to other countries of the world amounted to 13.9 million euros, or (24.2%). The most important export partners are USA (10.6%), and Switzerland (7.9%).
Kosovo's imports with other countries of the world amounted to 124.0 million euros, or (33.9%). The countries with the highest share of imports in this group were Turkey (12.2%) and China (9.4%).
