The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released the data on the flow of export and import in goods in March 2022.

Data from the Kosovo International Trade in goods indicate a higher trade deficit of 26.4% in March 2022, compared to the same period of 2021, respectively in the amount of 405.3 million Euros, compared to the deficit of 320.7 million Euro in 2021. Exports cover imports by 17.9%.

Exports of goods in March 2022 were worth 88.6 million Euros, while imports 493.9 million Euros, which is an increase by 43.3% for exports and 29.1% for imports, compared to the same period of 2021.

According to the data of the main groups for export: 28.0% of exports are base metals and articles thereof; 23.7% various manufactured articles; 3.2% are plastics, rubber and articles thereof; 6.4% are prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco; 5.8% are mineral products, etc.

Whereas, according to the data of the main groups for import: 16.0% are mineral products; 12.0% are base metals and articles thereof; 11.0% are machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment; 10.8% are prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco; 8.4% are products of the chemical industry; 7.9% are plastics, rubber and articles thereof; 6.8% are transport means, etc.

Kosovo's exports to EU countries (27) amounted to 25.2 million Euros, or about 28.5% of total exports, with an increase by 27.2%. The main partners for the export of goods to the EU were: Germany (7.2%), Italy (5.5), Austria (3.5%), etc.

Kosovo's imports from EU countries (27) were about 205.4 million Euros, or 41.6% of total imports, with an increase by 11.1%. The main partners for imports were: Germany (10.6%), Greece (4.8%), Italy (4.5%), etc.

In March 2022, Kosovo's exports to CEFTA countries amounted to 34.1 million Euros or 38.6% of total exports, with an increase by 40.5%. The main partners for export from CEFTA countries were: North Macedonia (14.1%), Albania (11.0%), Serbia (7.7), Montenegro (4.5%).

Meanwhile, imports from CEFTA countries in March 2022 amounted to 93.2 million Euros, or 18.9% of total imports, with an increase by 30.7%. The countries with the highest share of imports were: Serbia (6.5%), Albania (5.8%), North Macedonia (5.3%).

Kosovo's exports to other countries of the world amounted to 29.1 million Euros or 32.9%. The most important export partners from these countries are: USA (19.3%), and Switzerland (6.7%).

While, Kosovo's imports with other countries of the world amounted to 195.2 million Euros, or 39.5%. The countries with the highest share of imports in this group were: Turkey (13.8%) and China (10.5%).
