The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published data on the flow of export and import in July 2021.
Data from the Kosovo International Trade in goods indicate a higher trade deficit by 39.5% in July 2021, compared to the same period of 2020, respectively in the amount of 367.7 million Euros, compared to the deficit of 263.6 million Euros in 2020. Exports cover imports by 14.5%.
Exports of goods in July 2021 were worth 62.3 million Euros, while imports 430.0 million Euros, which is an increase by 46.2% for exports and 40.4% for imports, compared to the same period of 2020.
According to the data of the main groups for export: 38.0% of the exports are base metals and articles thereof; 16.1% comprise various manufactured articles; 10.3% are plastics, rubber and articles thereof; 8.3% are prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco; 6.1% are mineral products; 5.0% are plant products; 3.6% are machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment, etc.
While, according to the data of the main groups for import: 14.0% are mineral products; 13.4% are machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment; 13.1% are prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco; 9.7% are base metals and articles thereof; 9.0% are vehicles; 8.0% are products of the chemical industry; 6.4% are plastics, rubber and articles thereof, etc.
Kosovo's exports to EU countries amounted to 20.3 million Euros, or about 32.7% of total exports, with an increase by 13.3%. The main partners for the export of goods to the EU were: Italy (9.8%), Germany (8.0%), the Netherlands (3.1%), etc.
Kosovo's imports from EU countries were around 194.1 million Euros, or 45.1% of total imports, with an increase by 39.8%. The main import partners were Germany (13.4%), Italy (6.0%), Greece (4.9%), Poland (3.0%), etc.
In July 2021, Kosovo's exports to CEFTA countries amounted to 26.9 million Euros, or 43.3% of total exports, with an increase by 58.1%. The main export partners from CEFTA countries were: Albania (17.8%), North Macedonia (12.9%), Serbia (6.3%), and Montenegro (4.7%).
Imports from CEFTA countries in July 2021, amounted to 84.1 million Euros, or 19.6% of total imports, with an increase by 29.4%. The countries with the highest share of imports were: Serbia (6.9%), Albania (5.6%) and North Macedonia (5.3%).
Kosovo's exports to other countries of the world amounted to 14.9 million Euros, or 24.0%. The most important partners for export are USA (12.3%), and Switzerland (7.2%).
Kosovo's imports with other countries of the world amounted to 151.7 million Euros, or 35.3%. The countries with the highest share of imports in this group were: Turkey (12.0%) and China (9.9%).
