The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released data on the flow of export and import of goods in January 2022
Data from the Kosovo International Trade in goods indicate a higher trade deficit by 41.7% in January 2022, compared to the same period of 2021, respectively in the amount of 273.8 million Euros, compared to the deficit of 193.2 million Euro in 2021. Exports cover imports by 19.0%.
Exports of goods in January 2022 amounted to 64.2 million Euros, while imports 338.1 million Euros, which is an increase by 50.9% for exports and 43.4% for imports, compared to the same period of 2021.
According to the data of the main groups for export: 28.1% are the various manufactured articles; 20.5% are mineral products; 18.3% are base metals and articles thereof; 11.4% are plastics, rubber and articles thereof; 4.5% are prepared foodstuff, beverages and tobacco, etc.
According to the data of the main groups for import: 25.6% are mineral products; 10.5% are prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco; 10.1% are machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment; 8.3% are base metals and articles thereof; 7.0% are plastics, rubber and articles thereof; 6.9% are products of the chemical industry; 6.5% are the means of transport, etc.
Kosovo's exports to EU countries (27) amounted to 26.0 million Euros, or about 40.6% of total exports, with an increase of 74.9%. The main partners for the export of goods to the EU are: Germany (7.7%), Slovenia (7.5), Denmark (6.8%), etc.
Kosovo's imports from EU countries (27) were around 165.6 million Euros, or 49.0% of total imports, with an increase of 47.5%. The main partners for import were Slovenia (11.5%), Germany (10.6%), Italy (4.9%), Denmark (4.6%), etc.
In January 2022, Kosovo's exports to CEFTA countries amounted to 15.6 million Euros, or 24.4% of total exports, with an increase of 12.4%. The main export partners from CEFTA countries are: North Macedonia (12.2%), Albania (6.1%), Serbia (4.3), Montenegro (1.0%).
Imports from CEFTA countries in January 2022, amounted to 50.8 million Euros, or 15.0% of total imports, with an increase of 41.5%. The countries with the highest share of imports were: North Macedonia (5.6%), Serbia (4.8%) and Albania (3.5%).
Kosovo's exports to other countries of the world amounted to 22.4 million Euros, or 35.0%. The most important export partners from these countries are: USA (24.1%), and Switzerland (6.9%).
Kosovo's imports with other countries of the world amounted to 121.5 million Euros, or 36.0%. The countries with the highest share of imports in this group were: Turkey (11.8%) and China (9.1%).
