International Trade Statistics in goods, May 2022

Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released the data on the flow of export and import in May 2022.

Data from the Kosovo International Trade in goods indicate a higher trade deficit by (19.4%) in May 2022, compared to the same period of 2021, respectively in the amount of 367.8 million euros compared to the deficit of 308.2 million euros in 2021. Exports cover imports by (17.1%).

Exports of goods in May 2022 amounted to 76.0 million euros, while imports 443.8 million euros, which is an increase by (31.5%) for exports and (21.3%) for imports, compared to the same period of 2021.

According to the data of the main groups for export: (27.1%) of the exports are basic metals and articles thereof, (18.7%) various manufactured articles, (16.1%) plastics, rubber and articles thereof, (8.6%) mineral products, (7.2%) prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco, (4.0%) articles of stone, plaster, ceramics and glassware, etc.

Whereas, according to the data of the main groups for import are: (17.0) mineral products, (11.5%) machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment, (10.6%) prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco, (9.9%) basic metals and articles thereof (8.3%) plastics, rubber and articles thereof (7.9%) means of transport (6.8%,) chemical industry products, etc.

Kosovo's exports to EU-27 countries amounted to 22.5 million euros, or about (29.6%) of total exports, with an increase by (4.8%). The main partners for the export of goods to the EU are: Germany (10.1%), Italy (6.1), the Netherlands (2.3%), etc.

Kosovo's imports from EU-27 countries were about 188.6 million euros, or (42.5%) of total imports, with an increase by (14.3%). The main partners for imports were from: Germany (11.5%), Greece (6.4%), Italy (5.1%), etc.

In May 2022, Kosovo's exports to CEFTA countries amounted to 31.0 million euros, or (40.8%) of total exports, with an increase by (38.8%). The main partners for exports from CEFTA countries are: North Macedonia (15.0%), Albania (13.5%), Serbia (7.3), Montenegro (3.8%).

Meanwhile, imports from CEFTA countries in May 2022 amounted to 82.8 million euros, or (18.7%) of total imports, with an increase by (7.5%). The countries with the highest share of imports were: Serbia (7.2%), North Macedonia (5.1%), Albania (4.7%).

Kosovo's exports to other countries of the world mounted to 22.5 million euros, or (29.6%). The most important export partners from these countries are: USA (14.3%), and Switzerland (7.4%).

While Kosovo's imports with other countries of the worlds amounted to 172.4 million euros, or (38.8%). The countries with the highest share of imports in this group were: Turkey (11.7%) and China (9.8%).
