International Trade Statistics in Goods, July 2020

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released data on the flow of export and import in July 2020.

Data on the Kosovo International Trade of Goods indicate a lower trade deficit by (-11.0%) in July 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, respectively in the amount of 263.7 million Euros, compared to the deficit of 296.4 million Euros, as it was in 2019. Exports cover imports by 13.9%.

Exports of goods in July 2020 amounted to 42.6 million Euros, while imports to 306.3 million Euros, which is an increase by 5.4% for exports and a decrease by (-9.1%) for imports, compared to the same period of 2019.

According to the data of the main groups for export: 32.6% of exports consist of base metals and articles thereof; 12.2% of exports consist of plastics, rubber and articles thereof; 10.2% of exports consist of various manufactured items; 9.8% of exports consist of prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco; 7.4% of exports consist of plant products; 4.8% of exports consist of mineral products; 3.8% of exports consist of textiles and articles thereof, etc.

Whereas, according to the data of the main groups for import: 14.5% are machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment; 12.5% ​​are prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco; 11.6% are base metals and articles thereof; 10.0% are mineral products; 9.0% are vehicles; 8.3% are products of the chemical industry; 6.9% are plastics, rubber and articles thereof, etc.

Kosovo's exports to EU countries amounted to 18.6 million Euros, or about 43.8% of total exports, with an increase of 43.7%. The main partners for the export of goods to the EU are: Italy (12.4%), Germany (8.9%), Austria (6.0%), the Netherlands (3.8%), etc.

Kosovo's imports from EU countries were around 141.4 million Euros, or 46.2% of total imports, down by 13.3%. The highest share of imports were from: Germany (13.0%), Italy (5.8%), Greece (4.0%), Poland (3.1%), etc.

In July 2020, Kosovo's exports to CEFTA countries amounted to 17.0 million Euros, or 40.0% of total exports, with an increase of 2.2%. The main export partners from CEFTA countries are: Albania (17.5%), Macedonia (9.7%), Serbia (8.9%), and Montenegro (2.1%).

Meanwhile, imports from CEFTA countries, in July 2020, amounted to 65.0 million Euros, or 21.2% of total imports, with an increase of 32.0%. The countries with the highest share of imports were: Albania (6.6%), Macedonia (6.3%), and Serbia (6.2%).

Kosovo's exports to other countries of the world amounted to 6.8 million Euros, or 16.1%.

The most important export partner is Switzerland (7.8%).

Kosovo's imports with other countries of the world amounted to 99.8 million Euros, or 32.6%. The countries with the highest share of imports in this group were: Turkey (13.2%) and China (9.6%).
