International Trade Statistics in goods (ITS), February 2023

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released data on the flow of export and import for the month of February 2023.

The data from the International Trade in goods in Kosovo indicate a lower trade deficit by (-9.2%) in February 2023, in relation to the same period of 2022, namely in the amount of 317.5 million Euros, compared to the deficit of 349.5 million Euros in 2022. Export covers import by 18.7%.

The export of goods in February 2023 was worth 73.1 million Euros, while the import was 390.6 million Euros, which is an increase by 12.1% for export, and a decrease (-5.8%) for import, compared to the same period of 2022.

According to the data of the main groups for export: 20.1% are base metals and articles thereof; 16.2% are various manufactured items; 14.1% are mineral products; 13.1% consists of plastics, rubber and articles thereof; 8.1% are prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco; 4.0% is made up of textiles and articles thereof, etc.

While, according to the data of the main groups for import: 12.8% are machines, mechanical and electrical equipment; 12.0% are mineral products; 11.8% are prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco; 9.9% are the means of transport; 9.7% are base metals and articles thereof; 7.4% are products of the chemical industry; 6.1% consists of plastics, rubber and articles thereof, etc.

Kosovo's exports to EU countries (27) reached 23.5 million Euros, or about 32.2% of total exports, with an increase of 21.9%. The main partners for the export of goods to the EU were: Germany (9.3%), Denmark (5.8%), Italy (4.3%), etc.

Kosovo's imports from EU countries (27) were around 173.1 million Euros, or 44.3% of total imports, with a decrease by (-9.1%). The main partners for imports were: Germany (13.0%), Italy (6.6%), Greece (4.8%), etc.

In February 2023, Kosovo's exports with CEFTA countries reached 27.2 million Euros, or 37.3% of total exports, with an increase by 23.5%. The main partners for export from CEFTA countries were: North Macedonia (14.7%), Albania (10.5%), Serbia (6.2%), and Montenegro (4.6%).

Whereas, imports from CEFTA countries, in February 2023, reached 61.7 million Euros, or 15.8% of total imports, with a decrease by (-9.3%). The countries with the highest share of imports were: Serbia (5.5%), Albania (4.6%), and North Macedonia (4.5%).

Kosovo's exports with other countries of the world reached 22.3 million Euros, or 30.6%. As the most important partners for export are: USA (11.3%) and Switzerland (8.0%).

Meanwhile, Kosovo's imports with other countries of the world reached 155.7 million Euros, or 39.9%. The countries with the highest import share in this group were: Turkey (14.7%) and China (10.4%).
