International Trade Statistics in goods, August 2022

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released the data on the flow of export and import for the month of August 2022.

The data from the International Trade in goods in Kosovo indicate a higher trade deficit by (25.3%) in August 2022, in relation to the same period of 2021, namely in the amount of 441.9 million euros compared to the deficit 352.6 million euros in 2021. Export covers import by (16.1%).

The export of goods in the month of August 2022 was worth 84.8 million euros, while the import was 526.8 million euros, which is an increase by (30.6%) for export and (26.2%) for import compared to the same period of 2021.

According to the data of the main groups for export: (23.2%) of exports are mineral products, (18.0%) base metals and articles thereof, (16.2%) various manufactured articles, (11.1%) plastics, rubber and articles thereof, (7.8%) prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco, (4.9%) plant products, etc.

While according to the data of the main groups for import: (22.9%) are mineral products, (12.2%) prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco, (10.5%) machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment, (9.3%) base metals and articles thereof, (6.4%) plastics, rubber and articles thereof, (6.3%) products of the chemical industry (6.0%) means of transport, etc.

Kosovo's exports to the EU-27 countries reached 31.0 million euros, or about (36.5%) of the total exports, with an increase by (51.2%). The main partners for the export of goods to the EU are: Germany (8.4%), Denmark (6.2%), Slovenia (5.9), the Netherlands (3.3%), etc.

Kosovo's imports from the EU-27 countries were around 213.2 million euros, or (40.5%) of the total imports, with an increase by (20.2%). The main partners for imports were: Germany (9.5%), Greece (8.7%), Italy (3.8%), Slovenia (3.4%), etc.

In August 2022, Kosovo's exports with CEFTA countries reached 32.2 million euros, or (38.0%) of total exports, with an increase by (27.2%). The main partners for exports from CEFTA countries are: Albania (14.8%), Serbia (9.2%), Macedonia (8.4%), Montenegro (4.4%).

Whereas, imports from CEFTA countries in August 2022 reached 100.0 million euros, or (19.0%) of total imports, with an increase by (26.9%). The countries with the highest share of imports were: Serbia (7.4%), Macedonia (5.5%), Albania (4.1%).

Kosovo's exports to other countries reached 21.6 million euros, or (25.5%). As the most important partner of these countries for export is: USA (11.7%), and Switzerland (6.5%).

While Kosovo's imports with other countries reached 213.5 million euros, or (40.5%). The countries with the highest share of imports in this group were: Turkey (13.6%) and China (10.1%).
