The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published data on the flow of export and import in August 2021.

Data from the Kosovo International Trade in goods indicate a higher trade deficit by 54.0% in August 2021, compared to the same period of 2020, respectively in the amount of 352.6 million Euros, compared to the deficit of 228.9 million Euros in 2020. Exports cover imports by 15.6%.

Exports of goods in August 2021 amounted to 64.9 million Euros, while imports 417.5 million Euros, which is an increase by 89.4% for exports and 58.6% for imports, compared to the same period of 2020.

According to the data of the main groups for export: 34.7% of exports are base metals and articles thereof; 18.9% comprise various manufactured articles; 8.5% are plastics, rubber and articles thereof; 8.3% are plant products; 8.0% are prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco; 5.8% are mineral products; 3.0% are machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment, etc.

While, according to the data of the main groups for import: 15.5% are mineral products; 12.8% are prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco; 12.1% are machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment; 10.1% are base metals and articles thereof; 9.7% are vehicles; 7.3% are plastics, rubber and articles thereof; 6.3% are products of the chemical industry, etc.

Kosovo's exports to EU countries (27) amounted to Euro 20.4 million, or about 31.5% of total exports, with an increase by 80.2%. The main partners for the export of goods to the EU were: Germany (6.9%), Italy (6.7%), Spain (4.8%), etc.

Kosovo's imports from EU countries (27) were about 177.3 million Euros, or 42.5% of total imports, with an increase of 53.2%. The main import partners were: Germany (13.4%), Italy (5.5%), Greece (3.9%), Slovenia (3.9%), etc.

In August 2021, Kosovo's exports to CEFTA countries amounted to 25.3 million Euros, or 39.0% of total exports, with an increase of 72.1%. The main export partners from CEFTA countries were: Albania (15.2%), Northern Macedonia (10.2%), Serbia (8.9%), and Montenegro (2.8%).

Imports from CEFTA countries in August 2021, amounted to 78.7 million Euros, or 18.9% of total imports, with an increase of 50.5%. The countries with the highest share of imports were: Serbia (6.8%), Albania (5.6%), and Northern Macedonia (4.9%).

Kosovo's exports to other countries of the world amounted to 19.1 million Euros, or 29.4%. The most important partners for export are: USA (13.9%), and Switzerland (6.7%).

Kosovo's imports with other countries of the world amounted to 161.4 million Euros, or 38.7%. The countries with the highest share of imports in this group were: Turkey (12.1%) and China (10.2%).
