International Trade in Goods, December 2020
Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released data on the flow of export and import in December 2020.
Data on the Kosovo International Trade of Goods indicate a higher trade deficit by 0.3% in December 2020 compared to the same period of 2019, respectively in the amount of 309.2 million Euros compared to the deficit of 308.3 million Euro in 2019. Exports cover imports by 13.1%.
Exports of goods in December 2020 amounted to 46.7 million Euros, while imports 355.9 million Euros, which is an increase by 73.6% for exports and 6.2% for imports, compared to the same period of 2019.
According to the data of the main groups for export: 36.6% of the exports are base metals and articles thereof; 14.6% comprise various manufactured articles; 11.2% are plastics, rubber and articles thereof; 9.3% are prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco; 5.1% are mineral products; 4.8% are plant products; 4.7% are machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment, etc.
According to the data of the main groups for import: 15.4% are machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment; 13.5% are prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco; 10.7% are mineral products; 10.4% are vehicles; 10.1% are base metals and articles thereof; 7.5% are products of the chemical industry; 5.6% are plastics, rubber and articles thereof, etc.
Kosovo's exports to EU countries amounted to 12.9 million Euros, or about 27.7% of total exports, with an increase of 15.6%. The main partners for the export of goods to the EU are: Germany (8.9%), Italy (6.1%), the Netherlands (2.2%), etc.
Kosovo's imports from EU countries were about 165.2 million Euros, or 46.4% of total imports, with an increase of 1.8%. The main import partners were: Germany (14.0%), Italy (5.6%), Greece (3.8%), Poland (3.3%), etc.
In December 2020, Kosovo's exports to CEFTA countries amounted to 23.0 million Euros, or 49.4% of total exports, with an increase of 89.6%. The main export partners from CEFTA countries were: Albania (30.7%), Northern Macedonia (9.5%), Serbia (4.7%), and Montenegro (3.2%).
Imports from CEFTA countries, in December 2020, amounted to 69.2 million Euros, or 19.4% of total imports, with an increase of 67.6%. The countries with the highest share of imports were: Serbia (6.5%), Albania (5.7%), and Northern Macedonia (5.3%).
Kosovo's exports to other countries of the world amounted to 10.6 million Euros, or 22.9%. The most important export partners of these countries are: Switzerland (8.5%) and the USA (8.1%).
Kosovo's imports with other countries of the world amounted to 121.5 million Euros, or 34.1%. The countries with the highest share of imports in this group were: Turkey (11.7%) and China (10.0%).
