Input Price Index in Agriculture, Q2 2022
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released the "Input Price Index in Agriculture" for the second quarter (Q2 2022) (2015 = 100)
KAS has changed the base year of the index from 2010=100 to 2015=100 according to the methodology of Eurostat.
This publication is based on the prices of agricultural inputs collected in Kosovo. The collection of prices was carried out in agricultural pharmacies, veterinary pharmacies, in companies, markets and other places where the prices of agricultural inputs are available. Some prices of agricultural inputs are taken from consumer prices (HICP) in KAS.
The outputs that form the basis for the Input Price Index are divided into two main groups: Goods and services currently consumed in agriculture (Input 1) and Goods and services that contribute to investments in agriculture (Input 2). Within the Input 1 group, prices are aggregated according to the following groups: seeds and planting material, energy, oils, fertilizers and soil improvers, plant protection products and pesticides, veterinary expenses, animal feed materials, maintenance of materials, maintenance of buildings and other goods and services. Whereas, in terms of Input 2, prices are collected for materials (machinery and other equipment), buildings and other (non-resident farm buildings, other works than land improvement).
In the second quarter (Q2) of 2022, the Index of Input 1 has increased by 45.0%, compared to the same period of 2021. Meanwhile, the index of Input 2 has increased by 11.1%, compared to the same period of 2021.
Meanwhile, the total index of inputs (Input 1 + Input 2) has increased by 28.3%, compared to the same period of 2021.
