The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the “Agriculture Input Price Index” in the third quarter 2019 (Q3 2019) (2015 = 100).

KAS has changed the base year of the index from 2010 = 100 to 2015 = 100 according to the methodology of Eurostat.

This publication is based on the prices of agricultural inputs collected in Kosovo. Price collection has been carried out in agricultural pharmacies, veterinary pharmacies, companies, markets and other places where agricultural input prices are available. Some agricultural input prices are obtained from consumer prices (HICP) in KAS.

Outputs, which form the basis of the input price index, are divided into two main groups: Goods and Services Currently Consumed in Agriculture (Input 1); and Goods and Services that Contribute to Agricultural Investment (Input 2). Within Input 1, prices are aggregated by the following groups: seeds and planting stock, energy, oils, fertilizers and soil improvers, plant protection products and pesticides, veterinary expenditures, animal feedstuffs, materials, maintenance of materials, maintenance of buildings, and as other goods and services. Regarding the Input 2, prices are collected for materials (machinery and other equipment), buildings and other (non-residential farm buildings, other works other than land improvement).

In the third quarter of 2019, Input 1 index increased by 2.6% compared to the same period in 2018. Input 2 index increased by 8.6%.
