Input Price Index and Prices in Agriculture, Q1 2018
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the "Input Price Index for Agriculture" for the first quarter of 2018 (Q1 2018) (2015 = 100).
KAS has changed the base year of the index from 2010=100 in 2015=100 according to the methodology of Eurostat.
This publication is based on the prices of agricultural inputs accumulated in Kosovo. Price collection has been carried out in agricultural pharmacies, veterinary pharmacies, companies, markets and other places where agricultural input prices are available. Some prices of agricultural inputs are obtained from consumer prices at KAS (HICP).
The products that make up the basis for the Input Price Index, are divided into two main groups: Goods and Services currently consumed in agriculture (Input 1) and Goods and Services that Contribute to Investment in Agriculture (Input 2). Within the group of goods and services currently consumed in agriculture, prices are collected according to the following groups: seeds and consumables, energy; oils, fertilizers and soil improvers, plant protection products and pesticides, veterinary expenses, animal feed materials, maintenance of materials, maintenance of buildings, and other goods and services. Regarding the goods and services that contribute to investment in agriculture, prices are collected for materials (machinery and other equipment), buildings and other (non-resident farm buildings, other works other than land improvement).
In the first quarter of 2018, the index for Input 1 decreased by (-2.7%), compared to the same period of 2017. The index for Input 2 decreased by (-1.5%).
Meanwhile, the Total Input Index (Input I + Input II) has declined by (-2.1%) compared to the same period of 2017.
