Input Price Index and Prices in Agriculture, Q1 2017
Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the "Input Price Index and Prices in Agriculture" for Q1 2017 (2010 = 100).
The publication is based on prices of agricultural inputs collected in Kosovo. Price collection has been carried out in agricultural pharmacies, veterinary pharmacies, enterprises, markets and other places where agricultural input prices are available. Some prices of agricultural inputs are obtained from consumer prices (HICP) by KAS.
The products that form the basis for the Input Price Index are divided into two main groups: Goods and Services currently consumed in agriculture (Input 1) and Goods and Services that contribute to investment in agriculture (Input 2). Within the group of goods and services currently consumed in agriculture, prices are collected according to the following groups: seeds and fertilizer, energy, oil, fertilizers and soil improvers, plant protection products and pesticides, veterinary expenses, food stuffs for animal feed, maintenance of materials, maintenance of buildings, as well as other goods and services. Regarding Input 2, goods and services that contribute to investment in agriculture, prices are collected for materials (machinery and other equipment), buildings (farm buildings, other works, other than soil improvement, other buildings, their structure) and other.
Index of the first quarter inputs in 2017 has decreased (-5.2%) for Input 1 compared to the same period of 2016. While Input 2 index has increased by 1.7% compared to the same period of the year 2016.
Meanwhile, the General Input Index (Input 1 + Input 2) has declined by (-2.4%), compared to the same period of 2016.
