Import Price Index, Q4 2020

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the Import Price Index (IMPI) in the fourth quarter of 2020 (Q4 2020).

The total import price index in Kosovo increased by 0.5% in Q4 2020, compared to Q3 2020. The largest price increases, by sectors, were in: mineral products (3.2%); plant products (2.9%); base metals and articles thereof (2.2%); leather and articles thereof (1.9%); miscellaneous manufactured articles (0.8%); chemical industry products (0.6%); plastics, rubber and articles thereof (0.4%); stone, mortar, ceramic and glass articles (0.4%); edible oils (0.4%); and live animals and animal outputs (0.3%).

The increase was counteracted mainly by the decrease in prices by sectors: textiles and articles thereof (-3.1%); footwear (-2.1%); optical, photographic, measuring, medical, musical instruments and clock mechanisms (-1.5%); prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (-1.2%); machinery equipment and electrical equipment (-0.6%); means of transport (-0.1%); and wood and articles thereof (-0.1%).

Compared the Q4 2020 to Q4 2019, import prices decreased by an average of (-1.4%). The largest decreases, by sectors, were in: mineral products (-13.9%); textiles and textile articles (-13.5%); plastics, rubber and articles thereof (-0.8%); paper and articles thereof (-0.6%); base metals and articles thereof (-0.4%); and wood and articles thereof (-0.1%).

The decline was counteracted mainly by the increase of prices by sectors: plant products (8.7%); leather and articles thereof (7.6%); means of transport (5.7%); miscellaneous manufactured articles (2.0%); footwear (1.6%); machinery and electrical equipment (1.5%); stone, mortar, ceramic and glass articles (1.2%); edible oils (1.2%); live animals and their outputs (0.6%); prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (0.4%); chemical industry products (0.4%); and optical, photographic, measuring, medical and musical instruments, and clock mechanisms (0.3%).
