Import Price Index, Q4 2019

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the Import Price Index (IMPI) in the fourth quarter of 2019 (Q4 2019).

The total import prices index in Kosovo decreased by (-0.3%) in Q4 2019, compared to Q3 2019. The largest price declines by sectors were: textiles and articles thereof (-3.8%); crop products (-1.5%); mineral products (-1.3%); edible oils (-0.8%); various manufactured articles (-0.6%); leather and articles thereof (-0.5%); means of transport (-0.4%); live animals: animal output (-0.4%); base metals and articles thereof (-0.3%); prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (-0.1%); and optical, photographic, measuring, medical and musical instruments, and clock mechanisms  (-0.1%).

The decrease was mainly counteracted by price increases by sectors of: plastics, rubber and articles thereof (2.7%); footwear (1.1%); wood and articles thereof (0.6%); papers and articles thereof (0.2%) and machinery and electrical equipment (0.1%).

Meanwhile, compared to Q4 2019 with Q4 2018, import prices in Kosovo decreased by an average of (-0.3%). The largest declines by sector were: optical, photographic, measuring, medical and musical instruments, and clock mechanisms  (-21.5%); textiles and articles thereof (-9.1%); machinery and electrical equipment (-5.9%); leather and articles thereof (-2.5%); papers and articles thereof (-1.8%); plastics, rubber and articles thereof (-1.1%); edible oils (-0.6%); base metals and articles thereof (-0.3%); and wood and articles thereof (-0.3%).

The decrease was mainly counteracted by price increases by sectors of: crop products (15.2%); mineral products (2.7%); live animals: animal output (2.7%); various manufactured articles (2.7%); footwear (1.6%); articles of stone, mortar, ceramic and glass products (1.3%); prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (0.3%); chemical products (0.3%); and means of transport (0.1%).
