The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released the statistics of the Import Price Index (IMPI) in the third quarter of 2021 (Q3 2021).

The total import price index in Kosovo increased by 6.8% in Q3 2021, compared to Q2 2021. The largest price increases by sectors were: base metals and articles thereof (33.5%); mineral products (12.9%); stone, mortar, ceramic and glass articles (4.8%); live animals and animal output (4.4%); wood and articles thereof (3.9%); plastics, rubber and articles thereof (3.5%); means of transport (3.0%); machinery and electrical equipment (2.2%); textile and articles thereof (1.6%); prepared foodstuff, beverages and tobacco (1.5%); products of chemical industry (1.3%); edible oils (1.3%); optical, photographic, measuring, medical and musical instruments, and clock mechanisms (1.1%); and footwear (0.3%).

The increase was mainly counteracted by the decrease in prices by sectors: leather and articles thereof (-1.1%); plant products (-1.0%); paper and articles thereof (-0.9%); and miscellaneous manufactured articles (-0.7%).

Between Q3 2021 and Q3 2020, import prices in Kosovo increased to an average of 14.7%. The largest increases by sectors were: base metals and articles thereof (56.9%); mineral products (35.8%); plastics, rubber and articles thereof (19.9%); edible oils (13.8%); optical, photographic, measuring, medical and musical instruments, and clock mechanisms (13.5%); live animals and their outputs (11.5%); stone, mortar, ceramic and glass articles (11.4%); plant products (9.9%); wood and articles thereof (8.9%); machinery and electrical equipment (4.0%); means of transport (3.9%); chemical industry products (3.9%); prepared foodstuff, beverages and tobacco (2.1%); miscellaneous manufactured articles (1.6%); and leather and articles thereof (0.9%).

The increase was neutralized mainly by the decrease in prices by sectors: paper and articles thereof (-3.6%); footwear (-3.0%); and textiles and articles thereof (-1.6%).
