Import Price Index, Q3 2019

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the Import Price Index (IMPI) in the third quarter of 2019 (Q3 2019).

The total import prices index in Kosovo decreased by (-0.9%) in Q3 2019, compared to Q2 2019. The highest price declines by sectors were: leather and articless thereof (-10.1%); mineral products (-4.0%); textiles and articles thereof (-3.4%); plastics, rubber and articles thereof (-2.0%); optical, photographic, measuring, medical and musical instruments and clock mechanisms (-2.0%); means of transport (-0.9%); machinery and electrical equipment (-0.7%); wood and articles thereof (-0.3%); chemical industry products (-0.3%); edible oils (-0.3%); base metals and articles thereof (-0.2%); and various manufactured articles (-0.2%).

The decrease was mainly counteracted by price increases by sectors of: crop production (2.9%); live animals and animal products (0.5%); footwear (0.4%); and articles of stone, mortar, ceramics and glass products (0.1%).

Meanwhile, compared to Q2 2018, import prices increased by an average of 2.1%. The highest increases by sectors were: crop production (22.4%); live animals and animal products (11.5%); leather and articles thereof (11.1%); mineral products (8.3%); various articles produced (6.7%); articles of stone, mortar, ceramics and glass products (1.6%); footwear (1.1%); base metals and articles thereof (1.0%); papers and articles thereof (0.5%); chemical industry products (0.4%); and plastics, rubber and articles thereof (0.2%).

The increase was counteracted mainly by price decrease by sectors of: optical, photographic, measuring, medical and musical instruments, and clock mechanisms (-16.4%); textiles and articles thereof (-12.4%); machinery and electrical equipment (-2.4%); edible oils (-1.8%); prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (-0.1%); and wood and articles thereof (-0.1%).
