Import Price Index, Q3 2018
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the Import Price Index (IMPI) in the third quarter (Q3) 2018.
The total import price index in Kosovo increased by 0.8% in Q3 2018, compared to Q2 2018. The largest increase in prices by sectors was: mineral products (5.6%); footwear (4.8%); leather and articles thereof (2.5%); chemical industry products (1.8%); plastics, rubber and articles thereof (1.7%); various manufactured articles (1.5%); live animals and their products (1.4%); articles of stone, mortar, ceramic and glass products (0.8%); prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (0.6%); optical, photographic, measuring, and musical instruments, as well as clock mechanisms (0.5%); papers and articles thereof (0.2%); means of transport (0.1%) and wood and wood articles (0.1%).
The increase was neutralized mainly by the fall in prices by sector of plant products (-6.9%); textiles and articles thereof (-2.7%); machinery and electrical equipment (-0.8%); edible oils (-0.3%); and base metals and articles thereof (-0.1%).
Meanwhile, compared Q3 2018 with Q3 2017, import prices increased to an average of 2.2%. The largest increases by sectors were: mineral products (20.5%); plastics, rubber and articles thereof (5.7%); wood and articles thereof (3.9%); articles of stone, mortar, ceramics and glass products (2.8%); base metals and articles thereof (2.3%); chemical industry products (2.0%); means of transport (1.4%); leather and articles thereof (1.0%); edible oils (0.2%); and optical, photographic, measuring, and musical instruments as well as clock mechanisms (0.2%).
The increase was neutralized, mainly by the fall in prices by sectors of: plant products (-14.2%); footwear (-10.0%); papers and articles thereof (-7.3%); textiles and articles thereof (-3.9%); live animals and products thereof (-2.2%); prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (-1.1%); machinery and electrical equipment (-1.1%) and various manufactured items (1.5%).
