Import Price Index, Q2 2021
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) publishes the Import Price Index (IÇIMP) in the second quarter of 2021 (Q2 2021).
The total import price index in Kosovo increased by 3.4% in Q2 2021, compared to Q1 2021. The largest price increases by sectors were: optical, photographic, measuring, medical and musical instruments, and clock mechanisms (12.8%); plastics, rubber and articles thereof (11.7%); edible oils (10.0%); mineral products (8.1%); base metals and articles thereof (6.4%); live animals, animal outputs (4.3%); wood and articles thereof (4.1%); stone, mortar, ceramic and glass articles (3.7%); machinery and electrical equipment (1.1%); chemical industry products (1.1%); prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (0.1%); means of transport (0.1%); and plant products (0.6%).
The increase was mainly counteracted by the decrease in prices by sectors: paper and articles thereof (-2.4%); leather and articles thereof (-1.0%); textiles and articles thereof (-0.5%); footwear (-0.3%); and miscellaneous manufactured articles (-0.2%).
Import prices in Kosovo increased by an average of 7.7% between Q2 2021 and Q2 2020. The largest increases by sectors were: mineral products (22.6%); base metals and articles thereof (19.3%); plastics, rubber and articles thereof (14.6%); optical, photographic, measuring, medical and musical instruments, and clock mechanisms (14.4%); edible oils (10.0%); leather and articles thereof (8.3%); live animals and animal outputs (6.2%); stone, mortar, ceramic and glass articles (6.1%); wood and articles thereof (4.7%); means of transport (4.5%); machinery and electrical equipment (3.0%); miscellaneous manufactured articles (3.0%); chemical industry products (2.2%); prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (1.4%); and plant products (1.0%).
The increase was neutralized mainly by the decrease in prices by sectors: textile and articles thereof (-6.2%); paper and articles thereof (-5.1%); and footwear (-1.9%).
