Import Price Index, Q2 2020
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics has published the Import Price Index (IMPI) in the second quarter of 2020 (Q2 2020).
The total index of import prices in Kosovo decreased by (-1.6%) in Q2 2020, compared to Q1 2020. The largest decrease in prices by sectors were: mineral products (-10.8%); textiles and articles thereof (-4.4%); base metals and articles thereof (-3.4%); and leather and articles thereof (-0.2%).
The decrease was mainly counteracted by the increase of prices by sectors of: edible oils (6.1%); paper and articles thereof (1.6%); means of transport (1.2%); prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (1.1%); articles of stone, mortar, ceramic and glass (1.1%); plant products (0.6%); wood and articles thereof (0.6%); plastics, rubber and articles thereof (0.4%); footwear (0.4%); machinery and electrical equipment (0.3%); live animals and animal products (0.4%), miscellaneous manufactured articles (0.3%); and products of chemical industry (0.1%).
Compared the Q2 2020 with Q2 2019, import prices in Kosovo decreased by an average of (-3.5%). The largest decreases by sectors were: mineral products (-22.5%); textiles and articles thereof (-14.4%); leather and articles thereof (-11.1%); base metals and articles thereof (-4.4%); optical, photographic, measuring, medical and musical instruments, and clock mechanisms (-2.2%); miscellaneous manufactured articles (-0.3%); and products of chemical industries (-0.1%).
The decrease was mainly neutralized by the increase of prices by sectors: plant products (17.5%); footwear (3.8%); paper and articles thereof (2.3%); edible oils (1.8%); live animals and animal products (1.0%); stone, mortar, ceramic and glass articles (1.0%); means of transport (0.9%); prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (0.8%); plastics, rubber and articles thereof (0.5%); wood and articles thereof (0.4%) and machinery and electrical equipment (0.2%).
