Import Price Index, Q1 2020

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the Import Price Index (IMPI) in the first quarter of 2020.

The total index of import prices in Kosovo decreased by (-0.6%) in Q1 2020, compared to Q4 2014. The largest decrease in prices by sectors were: mineral products (-8.3%); textiles and articles thereof (-3.6%); edible oils (-3.0%); plastics, rubber and articles thereof (-0.5%); base metals and articles thereof (-0.5%); wood and articles thereof (-0.5%); leather and articles thereof (-0.3%); prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (-0.3%); articles of stone, mortar, ceramic and glass products (-0.2%); and optical, photographic, measuring, medical and musical instruments, and clock mechanisms (-0.1%).

The decrease was mainly counteracted by prices increase by sectors of: crop products (15.3%); footwear (1.8%); means of transport (0.9%); machinery and electrical equipment (0.6%); live animals, animal products (0.5%); various manufactured articles (0.2%); and chemical industry products (0.1%).

Import prices in Kosovo decreased by an average of (-0.6%) between Q1 2019 and Q1 2020. The largest decrease by sectors were: optical, photographic, measuring, medical and musical instruments, and clock mechanisms (-21.8%); textiles and textile articles (-13.4%); mineral products (-9.1%); edible oils (-3.9%); leather and articles thereof (-2.9%); base metals and articles thereof (-0.8%); papers and articles thereof (-0.6%); wood and articles thereof (-0.5%); and prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (-0.2%).

The decrease was mainly counteracted by price increase by sectors of: crop products (26.6%); live animals and animal products (3.3%); footwear (3.0%); various manufactured articles (1.6%); plastics, rubber and articles thereof (1.3%); articles of stone, mortar, ceramic and glass products (1.1%); means of transport (1.0%); machinery and electrical equipment (1.0%); and chemical industry products (0.2%).
